15th Annual Reading Festival
Glad Bag Buss Family Fete
The 2022 edition of the reading festival will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, 11 AM to 5 PM at the Broward County West Regional Library, 8601 Broward Boulevard, Plantation Florida.
This free event features a stellar line up of celebrity Caribbean authors, poets, musicians and storytellers including Dr. Opal Palmer Adisa, former head of the Institute of Gender and Development at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, and editor of the recently released 100+ Voices for Miss Lou, Poetry, Tributes, Interviews, Essays; Kei Miller, University of Miami lecturer, Professor Emerita Dr. Susan Davis, Christine Craig, Geoffrey Philp, Judith Falloon-Reid, Marcia Jackson and others.
As a special attraction for the kids, The Broward West Regional Library, will have a story window featuring Jamaica Maddah Goose, written By Miss Lou. Ettosi Brooks, Maxine Osbourne and Maxine Plummer will entertain the children with dancing, traditional games, and storytelling.
During the event, The Tallawah Mento Orchestra led by the Council’s president, Colin Smith, will provide live music. The event will include a vendor’s arcade, where Caribbean foods and craft items will be available.
