The event will feature Professor Kwame Dawes, Poet Laureate of Jamaica, as the guest lecturer. Dawes, a distinguished poet and author of twenty books, will offer profound insights into the evolving landscape of Jamaican poetry with his lecture titled "Perfecting the Dialect of the Tribe: Language and Imagination in Contemporary Jamaican Poetry."
Dr. Andrea Shaw-Nevins, a Professor and Dean at the Farquhar Honors College of Nova Southeastern University will moderate the discussion. Drawing from her expertise in Caribbean literature and creative writing, Dr. Shaw-Nivens will guide the conversation with finesse.
