Opening Night: The Louise Bennett-Coverley Heritage Council presents Bedward, a vibrant pantomime inspired by the life of Alexander Bedward (1848–1930), the charismatic leader of the Jamaican Native Baptist Free Church. Renowned for his powerful sermons and claimed healing gifts in August Town, Bedward’s life has influenced Jamaican folklore, visual art, investigative writing, and literature —including Kei Miller’s acclaimed novel August Town. This upcoming production continues our celebration of Jamaica’s rich cultural and spiritual history.
